Millar's eczema hampering performance

Procycling.com | Millar struggling against effects of eczema

David Millar of Cofidis finished 3rd at the Dauphiné Libéré last year, but Wednesday, he was 82nd, 3:57 back of Portal. Overall, he's 69th, 11:29 back of José Gutierrez.

Torn cartilage? Back spasms? Nope, it's eczema. Apparently brought on by allergies, the condition got worse when a prescribed skin cream reacted with sunlight to leave Millar with a painful burn on his leg. After 10 days off the bike, Millar, a time-trial specialist, could finish only 11th in Sunday's prologue.

There's more on Millar's website.
