Kessler likely to abandon

Yahoo! Sports | Hinault, Kessler suffer fractures after falls

T-Mobile's Matthias Kessler limped in to the finish today after crashing into a fence post (and it hurt watching that fence post move!). On further examination, Kessler has a broken rib and lung problems, and is unlikely to ride tomorrow. He would be the first abandon on Jan Ullrich's T-Mobile squad.

Update: procycling notes some more misfortune for T-Mobile: Daniele Nardello is suffering from an insect bite on his eyelid, Santiago Botero's not riding well, and Erik Zabel either couldn't or wouldn't sprint past Andreas Kloden on the finish today to take maximum green jersey points.

Credit Agricole's Sebastian Hinault briefly lost consciousness when he went into a ditch, and abandoned on the stage.
