Millar skips own firing

Eurosport | Millar Missing

Eurosport reports that David Millar was summoned to a meeting with Cofidis officials Wednesday, but that Millar didn't show, "reportedly realising that the purpose of the pow-wow was to begin proceedings for his firing."

Millar's truancy, however, will likely only prolong the inevitable. Under its charter of ethics, Cofidis claims a "zero tolerance" for doping.

The whole thing saddens and irritates me at the same time -- Millar has always seemed like such an intelligent, likeable guy, with a great sense of humor and even greater enthusiasm for the sport. He will be a big loss. How could he have been so stupid? How, in this day and age, any of these guys think they can get away with it is beyond me. He has seriously screwed up his life, that's for sure. What a complete waste.
