Armstrong's lawyer asks court to drop Simeoni lawsuit

Statesman.com | Armstrong's lawyer asks court to drop lawsuit

Lance Armstrong's attorney Tuesday asked an Italian court to drop Filippo Simeoni's defamation case against Armstrong.

This case centers on Armstrong's statement to Le Monde that Simeoni's testimony against Italian sports doctor Michele Ferrari couldn't be trusted because, Armstrong claimed, Simeoni is an “absolute liar.”

A related case, looking at Simeoni's claim that Armstrong illegally intimidated him during the 2004 Tour, has already been dropped.

A decision on whether the case continues is expected April 13.
