Merckx tips Landis
Eurosport | Tales from the Tour: Earpiece attack
Eddy Merckx, the 5-time Tour winner, was probably the greatest bike racer ever. His son, Axel, races for Phonak, alongside Tour favorite Floyd Landis. Eurosport asked Merckx if Landis will take the overall:
“I think so. If you see the season Floyd's had this year, with his win in California ... He's in very good shape, and has very good team. He'll be followed by (Levi) Leipheimer, (Denis) Menchov, and (Christophe) Moreau. Yesterday (Alejandro) Valverde went out and that's a shame.”
Of course, in the same space yesterday, Merckx called tennis “a sport for sissies.”

It would be great to see another American win, but my gut says that this may not be our year. The Americans have done pretty well so far at keeping out of the doping scandals, but not so good at avoiding accidents.
I don't have OLN this year, so you are my main source for TDF updates. Keep up the good work. I also posted about your site on my Blog (http://peter-singlespeed.blogspot.com/2006/07/le-tour.html), so maybe you'll get a few more readers from there.
