Don't tell Jane: Hincapie snags a podium girl
sfgate.com | Armstrong teammate finds love at Tour de France
George Hincapie is engaged to a Credit Lyonnais girl he met at last year's Tour:
"I was mesmerized by her," he said. "I needed to talk to her or find her phone number."When I first saw her I thought, 'Wow, she's beautiful!' and I wanted to ask her out on a date to have this beautiful girl with me. But that was it, I didn't think it would go anywhere."
Hincapie sent Melanie Simonneau a note by way of CL officials. The two are expecting their first child in November.
"We found out three days ago that it is a girl," the soft-spoken Hincapie said.
Thanks, John!

Wow, that must be the ultimate tour cliche. I love it! Congrats to George and Melanie.

Folks, I think it was me, in my less crazy guise, that originally broke that news. Big G clued my... er... close associate, Jaime Nichols, into those awesome developments way back in April. It's brilliant news, he's going to be a lovely father, and everyone at Crazy Jane's copy desk wishes him effusive big fat loads of every happiness!

You missed the best part... She got fired because the Credit Lyonnais girls aren't supposed to talk to the riders. They can kiss the riders on the podium, but they cannot talk to them.

Tim,
I saw that, but I didn't know if that was the real reason, or if they refuse to have podium girls that are 5 months pregnant.
