From Baden Cooke, who saw victory snatched away by the race barriers and Paolo Bettini's squirrely sprint:
F***! I f**king got over the hill no worries. None of the sprinters were left, I got on Bettini's wheel, he hit out early, I gave him a length, and I was f**in' absolutely cruising. Dropped it down the gears, ran at him, just about to blow his helmet off as I went past him...and he's just turned left and put me in the barrier. I had it won, I was just about to throw my hands in the air. Instead I did five somersaults down the road!

Well, that's his side of the story. Bettini made it quite narrow on his left side, thats's true. But he didn't push Cooke into the barrier, it looked like Cookes break handle somehow touched Bettinis saddle when he tried to pass him. Cookes front wheel slided away and he fell into the barrier.
I don't say it was wrong to disqualify Bettini, but it wasn't obvious to do so either.

I don't know man, Bettini made that gap smaller and smaller until Cooke had nowhere to go but down. I think Bettini was beaten. The worst part is that Cooke ended up in 191st place on the stage, when he was virtually assured 1st or 2nd.
